ELSA is an escape breathing apparatus that provides a continuous supply of air for rapid evacuation from hazardous industrial, mining, and maritime environments. ELSA is simple and quick to operate, reliable and robust, offering maximum protection in emergency situations. ELSA is available with 10- or 15-minute duration and is made from high-visibility PVC or black antistatic polyurethane materials. The apparatus consists of a cylinder with valve and pressure reducer, a hood that provides continuous airflow, and a carrying bag. ELSA is activated automatically when the bag is opened: a pin attached to the bag strap is released, engaging the system immediately.
