Istanbul University–Cerrahpaşa Department of Geophysical Engineering is one of the leading institutions in geophysics education in Türkiye, with a history dating back to 1926. The department offers undergraduate and graduate programs in Solid Earth Geophysics, Applied Geophysics, and Seismology. The department has strong expertise and well-established infrastructure in mineral exploration. Magnetic, gravity, electrical, and electromagnetic methods are effectively used to detect, model, and interpret subsurface mineralization. Equipped with modern instruments and advanced data processing software, the department conducts both academic research and industry-oriented projects. With field-based training and applied education, graduates are well prepared to work directly in the mining sector, contributing to the efficient and sustainable exploration of natural resources.
