Turkish Mining Development Foundation was established on the 14th of February, 1986 in Istanbul. The Founders and Boards consisted of university lecturers, representatives of public and private sectors. The Foundation organizes national and international congresses, symposia, seminars, workshops, exhibitions, fairs and technical visits to develop mining and mineral resources in Turkey. In this respect, the foundation organizes publications, technological and scientific researches and contributes to these activities, by assisting and giving financial support to university lecturers, engineers, technicians, under/post graduates and other personnel in their research and education. The Foundation assists to develop strategies and plans in cooperation with other organizations for the development of mining in Turkey. The Foundation also provides cooperation between domestic and foreign companies. The main target of the Foundation is to clarify public opinion on all matters related to mining in cooperation with authorities. To this end, Sektörmaden, a quarterly sectoral magazine, is being published by the Foundation. In addition, to promoting production of raw materials for energy, industry and agriculture sectors, the Foundation prioritizes contribution of high valued products to the Turkish economy.
